POSITION SUMMARY:The Human Resources Generalist will use professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to solve problems in creative and effective ways. This position will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day administration of, but not limited to, the following key HR areas: FMLA/leave administration, performance management, unemployment and workers' compensation claims, and a strong focus on front line employee relations. This person will function as a hands-on HR Generalist and report to the Director, Human Resources.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-Administer full-cycle FMLA, leave, workers' compensation, and unemployment claims for corporate as well as field locations-Build rapport with the corporate and field employees and help improve productivity by serving as a subject matter expert in the areas of HR practices-Research and investigate employee relations issues on a case-by-case basis and provide constructive and effective resolution for each matter, working with internal counsel as needed-Serve as an active business partner and coach to managers, leaders, and branch CEO's and provide guidance on employee performance issues by applying various performance management techniques for conflict resolution-Maintain knowledge and ensure compliance with all current state and federal employment regulations and compliance for regulatory concerns and reporting -Administer various human resources plans and procedures for all company employees-Assist with revisions and maintenance of company employee handbook-Effectively work in a consultative role in a changing and de-centralized environment-Other duties as assignedMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:-Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or Organizational Behavior -3-8 years of experience as a Human Resources GeneralistREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:-Experience in handling full-cycle leave, FMLA, and workers' compensation claims -Knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including employee relations, benefits, and safety-Working knowledge of current governmental compliance regulations and laws-Knowledge in multi-state laws, including California laws-Ability to be assertive yet compassionate, progressive yet grounded in best practices -Ability to maintain high levels of integrity and confidentiality with company and employee matters-Ability to provide guidance and direction to managers and employees at all levels regarding best HR practices, such as on and off-boarding, laws such as FMLA and ADA compliance, benefits, and coaching on disciplinary actions-Strong problem solving and project management skills with acute attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines-Ability to professionally communicate both internally and externally with individuals at all levels of an organization, including senior leadership-Solid experience and knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)-Ability to work both independently and in a team setting; flexible, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment-Skilled in being a self-motivating, analytical, and proactive team player-Exceptional communication skills -- listening, written, and verbal-Exceptional time management and customer service skillsDESIRED SKILLS:-Industry-related experience in property management, real estate, etc.-Experience with Canadian and other international lawsEqual Opportunity Employer.
